Crimson is a blue-leaning red, deeper and less orange than the reds that usually turn up on running shoes, and pairing it with angora, New Balance's warm off-white, produces a contrast that is strong without being harsh. The red takes the overlay pieces and the cream fills in behind them, so the shoe's structure is drawn in the darker colour. Because both arrive on suede, neither gains a glossy edge, and the pair reads warm rather than sporting.

The ENCAP heel is unchanged, EVA cushioning bounded by a harder polyurethane ring, as is the rest of the platform the model has used since it was built out of a 576 upper and a 577 sole.
