This shoe was cancelled before it ever reached a shelf. Nike and the convenience-store chain built it as a Japan exclusive tied to the Tokyo Olympics, using the chain's red, green and orange colour blocking, its logo on the lateral ankle, and heel branding stacked in the same arrangement the store uses on its signage. When the Games were postponed the release lost its occasion, and although a United States launch was briefly considered, the reasoning against it was cultural rather than commercial; the chain simply does not occupy the same place in American life that it does in Japan. It was the first official partnership between the two companies, which made the decision to scrap it more conspicuous. Pairs exist, having leaked out through sample channels, but there was never a retail release to speak of.
