Suede changes how the Air Jordan 1 looks more than any color does. The nap absorbs light where leather reflects it, so a shoe finished entirely in Wolf Grey suede reads soft and matte, and its panel seams show up as shadow lines rather than as hard edges. Perforations at the toe add a second texture and let air through the thickest part of the upper, while the sockliner is built in mesh for the same reason.
Branding is kept tonal and repeated rather than contrasted: Jumpman marks appear on the tongue, the heel and the quarter panel in the same grey as everything around them. This was made for kids only, in the High cut, at a retail price of $105, which put it above most other grade school versions of the model on the strength of the suede alone.
