Jordan Brand has spent years attaching outside names to the 1985 silhouette: skate labels, rappers, retailers, a Paris couture house. The Dior version sits at the far end of that range. Dior has operated since December 1946, and Kim Jones took over its menswear in 2018 and stayed until 2025; this shoe belongs to a wider collaborative collection that ran across clothing and accessories as well as footwear.
What separates it from an ordinary retro is the construction rather than the graphics. The upper is Italian leather in white and grey, with the panel edges painted by hand rather than left raw or bound. The swoosh is not printed or stitched in leather but cut from Dior's Oblique jacquard, the house's monogram fabric, so the shoe's most recognisable Nike element arrives in Dior's material. A woven Dior tag replaces the standard tongue label.
The outsole is translucent, and under it sit both a Dior mark and a version of the Jordan Wings logo, visible only from beneath. It carried a $2,200 price on 25 June 2020, an order of magnitude above what the model normally costs.
