Nike founded its youth basketball circuit in 2010, gathering the strongest club programmes in the country into a league that runs through the summer and culminates in a tournament in Georgia. Making footwear for it costs very little against what it buys: the players on those rosters are the ones every brand will be competing to sign within a few years, and shoes produced in the low hundreds and never sold reach an audience that follows the circuit obsessively. The GT Cut belongs to a Nike basketball series launched in 2021 around the idea of creating space (one model built for cutting, one for running, one for jumping), with this the lowest and most stability-focused of the three. Lemon chiffon carries this version, made for players in an event rather than for a shelf.
