Where the notebook Dunks copy the cover of an exercise book, this one copies what a child does to the pages. An abstract crayon scribble is printed over grain leather, loose and deliberately untidy, and the branding on the tongue is written out by hand rather than set in type.
Varsity Maize handles the Swooshes on both sides and the laces pick up the same yellow, so the brightest parts of the shoe sit where the eye lands first. The rest stays white, which keeps the print from fighting the panel shapes. Underneath is the standard Dunk High arrangement: a welted cupsole and a rubber outsole with the circular pivot point at the forefoot, a tread detail inherited from the shoe's basketball brief. Nike made it a grade school exclusive in 2014, priced at 85 dollars.
