ZoomX started as a race-day material. Nike announced Breaking2 in November 2016, an attempt to run a marathon under two hours, and staged it on the Monza motor circuit in May 2017, where Eliud Kipchoge finished in 2:00:25. The shoe built for it, the Vaporfly Elite, used a modified Pebax foam Nike named ZoomX (lighter, softer and springier than anything in a normal running shoe), wrapped around a full-length carbon plate.
The Pegasus Turbo is what happened when that foam was taken out of the racing shoe and put into a trainer. There is no carbon plate; instead ZoomX is layered over a firmer foam so the midsole survives daily mileage rather than a single race, and the upper is a light Flywire construction with cables running into the lacing. The heel collar is tapered to keep pressure off the Achilles tendon.
The result sat oddly in the range, at a price no Pegasus had carried before, but it gave most runners their first contact with the foam that changed marathon racing. This one is blacked out, with a midsole fading toward white and an oversized silver Swoosh.
