Number 9 is among the quietest pairs in the run. Where most of the fifty introduce a bright accent through the spare laces, the zip tie and the tab on the Swoosh, this one keeps to the sail and neutral grey that form the collection's shared base.
That leaves the structural details to carry it: the printed Helvetica text across the panel, the loose plastic zip tie threaded through the laces, the exposed foam at the tongue, the second set of lace loops, and the plate on the outer midsole reading 9 of 50. Virgil Abloh titled the collection Dear Summer. All fifty were released together on 9 August 2021 at 180 dollars, three and a half months before Abloh's death in November that year.
