Piet Parra is an Amsterdam illustrator whose work (flattened figures, cropped limbs, colour blocked so hard it stops reading as a body) moved between record sleeves, gallery walls and skate graphics long before Nike printed it on a shoe. The 2019 Dunk Low was the pairing that reached shops; this turquoise version is the far smaller Friends and Family run made alongside it and never sold. The shift is mostly tonal. Where the public pair sat on a white base and let the print jump forward, this one drops the panels into midnight turquoise with pink rose picking out the Swoosh and collar, so the same abstract shapes read as shadow instead of pattern. Underneath, the shoe is the standard skate build of the period: leather and suede across the upper, a thickened tongue, extra collar padding and a Zoom Air unit in the heel, the modifications that separate a skate Dunk from the 1985 basketball original. Friends and Family pairs are handed out in small numbers rather than allocated to accounts, which is why this colour circulates through resale and auction listings while the retail version turned up in skate shops worldwide.
