This is the mid-cut, waterproof version of On's Cloudhorizon 2, a hiking shoe rather than a runner. The cushioning is CloudTec Phase, and On says the Cloud geometry has been reworked specifically for hiking movement, giving a smoother heel-to-toe transition and softer landings than the road versions. A Helion superfoam midsole handles the softness, while a Missiongrip rubber compound with a hiking-specific tread profile deals with traction. Protection is the other theme: a waterproof membrane, an updated toe cap for zoned coverage, adjusted sidewalls for stability, and a soft padded collar around the mid-height ankle. On rates it for technical terrain and lists an 8 mm heel-to-toe drop, about 320 grams in women's sizing, recycled polyester in the build, and production in Vietnam.
