The ACS Pro is older than its current fashion life suggests. Its shape dates to the mid-2000s, when Salomon built the GCS Pro around a Ground Control System, and the design sat in the archive until 2022, when the brand brought it back with the chassis reworked and renamed. The Agile Chassis System splits into three named parts: an AC Skeleton that frames the foot, an AC Muscle that handles cushioning, and an AC Tendon meant to return energy through the stride.
The visual language came from outside footwear. The designer took the swollen forms of motorcycle fuel tanks as a reference, which is where the bulbous eyelet housings come from, and gave the upper a ribbed surface that is both structural and decorative.
MM6 Maison Margiela has been working with Salomon since 2022, and its treatments tend to mute rather than decorate. Sharkskin is a case in point: a flat grey mesh upper with silver hardware, and Sharp Green kept to small accents, so the shoe's mechanical detailing carries the design.
