Salomon's Sportstyle division exists to pull shoes out of the company's trail archive and place them in shops that do not otherwise sell hiking gear. The ACS Pro Advanced is one of the clearer examples. Its shape comes from the GCS Pro, a 2005 trail model whose lineage traces back to work Christian Tresser did for the brand around the turn of the century.
The revival kept the silhouette and changed what sits under it. An Agile Chassis System midsole replaced the original tooling, and the upper was rebuilt from the inside out with wide-gauge mesh and window cutouts that leave the structure visible and the foot ventilated. Nothing about it is decorative, which is the reason it works as a fashion object.
Salomon reopened the model in late 2021 in a metal and grey colourway, with global distribution the following February. This alloy version came in September 2022 at $172, part of the seasonal rotation the line settled into once it found an audience outside running.
