Salomon spent decades as a company that outdoor shops stocked and fashion buyers ignored. The XT series is where that changed.
The XT-4 was released in 2012 as a technical trail shoe: low-profile, agile, built for runners moving fast over rough ground. Its successor, the XT-6, arrived the following year for ultra distances and was tested by elite trail athletes before it reached anyone else. Neither was designed with a city in mind. What made them travel was the look of the engineering (the exposed webbing of the Sensifit panels, the pull-cord lacing, the aggressive sole geometry), which read as technical in a way nothing in mainstream sportswear did.
Salomon formalised that audience with a sportstyle range and reissued the XT-4 as the XT-4 OG in 2023, keeping the original construction and opening up the colour palette.
This pair does exactly that: eden green across the synthetic upper with bright lime and white in the overlays and sole, louder than anything the shoe wore in its trail-running life.
