Red on white is the obvious shorthand for Japan and adidas has returned to it repeatedly across city-themed product. Here the base is a Footwear White engineered mesh upper, a single piece with no stitched overlays, and Scarlet is applied as the accent that carries the theme. Core Black is the third colour, used to outline and to stop the red from floating.
Mesh suits a shoe leaning on flat colour, because it holds an even surface and lets a small accent keep a hard edge. The Three Stripes are welded to the sidewall in the usual position, and behind them sit the details the model always carries: a heel badge, a branded pull tab and the sock-like collar. Underneath, the full-length Boost midsole runs with inserts moulded into its sidewall, and the outsole below uses the segmented rubber pattern. Retail was $140, ten dollars over the mesh standard the silhouette held for years.
