Player-exclusive UltraBoosts had circulated on college campuses for years before adidas sold any of them. The 2020 pack was the brand making that idea retail: eight universities it outfits, each rendered on the original UltraBoost rather than a current model.
The dyed Boost is what makes them read as team shoes. Colouring the midsole was once reserved for special releases, and here it runs across the whole pack, so the shoe sits in school colours from the knit down to the tooling rather than only above the sole.
The tongue patches attach with Velcro and come in pairs, letting the wearer run the school logo or swap to standard adidas branding. Arizona State's version is worked almost entirely in gold, with maroon on the three stripes and the patches. The pack released in early September 2020.
