Most sneakers are glued composites of foams, rubbers and textiles that cannot be separated, which makes them nearly impossible to recycle. Made To Be Remade is the adidas answer: shoes built so they can be sent back, broken down and turned into material for the next pair. This UltraBoost wears the programme in Core Black from the knit upper through the cage, heel counter and midsole, with no contrast anywhere on the shoe.
The uniform colour is part of the engineering brief and not only styling, since fewer dyes and fewer mixed materials make the end of that loop simpler. It arrived September 30, 2022 at $210, thirty dollars above a standard UltraBoost of the year, which is what the construction and the return programme added. The ride is unchanged, with a full-length Boost midsole carrying the fused thermoplastic polyurethane pellets the line has used since it launched in February 2015.
