The UltraBoost arrived in February 2015 and settled adidas' running identity for the decade that followed. Two pieces did the work: a knitted Primeknit upper, which fits like a sock and has no traditional panels, and a Boost midsole underneath it. Between them sits the plastic cage that gives the shoe its profile, a moulded midfoot piece that doubles as the three-stripe logo and as the housing the laces run through.
This pair belongs to a college collection, which gives the standard shoe a set of school-specific details rather than a new build. The Primeknit is white and blended half from recycled ocean plastic and half from recycled polyester. Scarlet and black run across the cage, the interchangeable webbing straps carry school and brand wordmarks, and the suede forefoot overlay is debossed with 1869, the year the university was founded. A reflective tag sits on the tongue.
