ASICS rebuilt the Nimbus for its twenty-fifth version, and the changes were larger than anything the line had absorbed in a decade. The stack climbed past forty millimetres at the heel, the drop was cut to eight, and a new GEL formulation replaced the older insert with something substantially softer. The upper moved to knit. A shoe that had spent twenty-four editions being refined incrementally was suddenly a different proposition underfoot, aimed at runners who wanted maximum cushioning rather than balanced cushioning, and the rest of the brand's premium range followed it. Anniversaries make convenient cover for a redesign that was going to happen anyway. This is the wide fitting, with island blue carrying the knit and sun peach on the branding, warmer than the line's usual cool blues and greys.
