FlyteFoam is the reason a modern ASICS trainer weighs what it does. The brand introduced the compound in 2016 on the MetaRun, then its most expensive shoe, and pushed it down through the range over the following seasons until it reached volume models like this one. Before that, midsoles leaned on SpEVA and Solyte, heavier materials for the same stack of cushioning. The tenth GT-2000 pairs FlyteFoam with GEL at the heel and support along the inner side, the combination the series has run on since it replaced the GT-2100 numbering in 2012. Lichen green is a muted, greyed-down shade that reads as a deliberate step away from the saturated blues and reds stability trainers usually wear.
