Every shoe is built around a last, a solid form in the shape of a foot that the upper is pulled over and the sole attached to. It sets length, girth, toe height and how the arch is held, and two shoes on different lasts are different shoes no matter how similar the parts list looks. That is why a serious wide fitting cannot be produced by cutting the pattern larger: it needs its own form, its own sole mould and its own sample rounds.
