CO.JP was Nike's Japan-only release channel, and in 2001 it carried a short series of Air Jordan 1 retros made specifically for that market. This navy pair was the third of them, arriving in September, only weeks after a general-release shoe in near-identical colours had already reached shops elsewhere.
The build is white tumbled leather with navy suede at the overlays and metallic silver on the swoosh and the ankle wings. Production stopped at 3,000 pairs, each carrying its own number printed on the inside tongue tag, and the price in Japan was 12,000 yen. Packaging matched the rest of the 2001 series: the Jordan face box, a silver Jumpman keychain and a retro card.
A small numbered run sold in one country is a reliable recipe for obscurity, and this pair stayed out of general circulation for nearly two decades. Jordan Brand later returned to the colourway in wide distribution, but the 2001 shoes remain the ones that were genuinely rationed.
