Art Basel brings a large art fair to Miami Beach every December, and by the mid-2010s sneaker brands had started treating that week as a release window. In 2017 Jordan Brand made two Air Jordan 1s for it: this rust pink pair and a pale green one called Igloo, both restricted to the city.
Both follow the Black Toe arrangement, where black covers the toe and the heel with a contrasting panel between, and both replace the usual red with a colour taken from the pastel Art Deco buildings along the beach. The leather is a premium grade closer to the original 1985 shoes than to a standard retro, and the rust tone carries onto the outsole.
The pairs went on sale in December through a short pop-up staged as an installation about the city rather than as an ordinary release. Neither was restocked or reissued afterwards, which is why a fairly conventional Air Jordan 1 variation trades where it does.
