Fujiwara moved to Tokyo at eighteen and started his first label, Good Enough, in the late 1980s. What followed made him one of the few designers regularly described as a godfather of the Ura-Harajuku scene, the back-street Tokyo streetwear culture that shaped how limited-run product is made and sold almost everywhere else. His work with Nike ran through HTM, the small-batch line he pioneered inside the company, and he has taken the same approach to Levi's and to his own fragment design, where most of his time now goes.
His Air Jordan 1 is among the most restrained things either party has put out. It works in blue on white with black at the collar, keeps the panelling exactly as the 1985 shoe had it, and adds nothing beyond a small logo where a Wings mark would normally sit.
This particular pair was not a retail release. It is a friends-and-family version, dated 27 December 2014, produced in a quantity far below the general run: the same design, distributed the way Fujiwara has distributed things since Good Enough.
