Cash Ru designed this Air Max 97 as part of Nike's On Air program, which invited entrants worldwide to build an Air Max shoe around their home city. The 'Shanghai Kaleidoscope' released April 13, 2019 at a $200 retail price, built on an Ice Blue translucent synthetic upper that lets the shoe's inner layers show through.
White multi-layered heel tabs stack up the back of the shoe, a detail meant to read as clouds drifting over the city that inspired the design. Red trim and white striping cut across the upper for contrast, and the visible Air midsole common to every 97 carries through underneath. At $200, it sat above the model's standard general release pricing, in line with the rest of the On Air series.
