Nike's Ultra '17 remaster swaps the original Air Max 97's layered construction for a single piece of jacquard textile, built over a lighter midsole and outsole. The Pure Platinum colorway keeps that lighter build in a tonal palette: platinum and white run across the upper, with the wavy reflective piping picked out in a matching silver tone rather than a contrasting color. The hidden lacing and pull tabs at heel and tongue carry over from the running shoe's original design.
Pure Platinum released in June 2018 at $160, priced in line with the rest of the Ultra '17 range. Where the standard Air Max 97 leans on a busier mix of overlays and materials, this pair reduces the palette to near-monochrome, letting the ripple lines and the visible Air unit running the length of the sole do the talking.
