The Nike Mind 001 comes out of Nike's Mind Science Department with an unusual brief: a pregame mule intended to engage the mind as much as the foot. Its oversized outsole carries 22 nodes that move up and down against the sole of the foot with each step, a mechanism Nike says is scientifically shown to activate sensory areas of the brain, with the goal of helping athletes stay present and connected to their surroundings before competition. A soft foam midsole handles the actual cushioning, and stretchy fabric on the footbed gives the nodes room to travel while staying comfortable against the skin.
The first of two colorways arriving the same day pairs Light Smoke Grey and Photon Dust with Hyper Crimson and Chrome accents. Release is scheduled for August 20, 2026 at a retail price of $95. Rather than slotting into a performance category, the Mind 001 opens a different lane for Nike: footwear aimed at the routine before the game rather than the game itself.
