The Mind 001 is a mule Nike built for the pregame window rather than for competition. Its defining feature sits underfoot: 22 nodes set into the outsole that travel up and down against the sole of the foot as weight shifts, which Nike says engages sensory areas of the brain to help an athlete stay present before a match. The brand credits the work to its Mind Science Department. So those nodes can actually move, the footbed is covered in a stretchy fabric instead of a rigid board, and a soft foam midsole handles cushioning around them. The upper is a perforated knit for breathability, and rubber pods near the toe and heel supply traction at the contact points.
