Metropolis is one of the greys ASICS returns to season after season, appearing across road and trail models until it functions as a house colour rather than a seasonal choice. Paired with black on the standard-width GT-2000 12, it puts a plain finish on a shoe that changed considerably underneath. The twelfth version runs full-length FF Blast Plus and PureGEL, an internal heel insert the brand rates as far softer than the compound it replaced, with a stack that climbed to thirty-six millimetres at the heel. Its guidance system is a simplified take on the one that debuted in the Kayano 30 earlier the same year, without the arch piece. The line itself goes back to 2012 under this name, and further back through the GT-2170 and the numbered stability shoes before it: a very old brief, moderate support for daily mileage, reworked around modern foam.
