Black with Pink Rave is the sharpest colourway the twenty-eighth Kayano received, and it sits on a shoe that was quietly at the end of an era. Version 28 kept Dynamic DuoMax, the firmer foam post on the inside of the midsole that had defined the line's support for years, and the plastic Trusstic shank under the arch, both of which disappeared the following season when LiteTruss arrived in the 29. The change it did make was underfoot: FlyteFoam Blast in the midfoot in place of FlyteFoam Propel, which reviewers found produced a softer, more flexible stride than the Kayano had offered in a long time. That combination (traditional structure, modern foam) is a fair summary of where premium stability shoes stood in 2021, just before the category rethought what support ought to feel like.
