The GT-2000 is the middle of the ASICS support range: more shoe than the GT-1000 beneath it, less money and less cushioning than the GEL-Kayano above. It is the model a specialist shop puts on a mild overpronator who runs four or five times a week, and its generations move in small, traceable steps.
The tenth edition is the last of the older recipe. Cushioning came from FlyteFoam, the lightweight compound ASICS rolled out across its running line from 2016, with a GEL unit in the rearfoot. Support came from LITETRUSS, a firmer structure built into the arch side of the midsole that resists the foot collapsing inward through midstance: the traditional medial-post approach, in ASICS’ own wording.
The generation after this one traded FlyteFoam for the springier FF Blast, and the one after that removed LITETRUSS altogether in favour of a wider, bevelled platform. That makes the 10 a useful marker: the last GT-2000 built the way the line had been built for years.
The colourway is plain by design: white knit, white midsole, black branding.
