Emerald is a hard colour to get right in canvas, because a green that photographs well outdoors often turns flat and grey under shop lighting. Converse went dark with it here: Deep Emerald reads almost forest green in shadow and opens up into a clear jewel tone in daylight, sitting against an Egret off-white foxing stripe, toe cap and midsole that have been tinted slightly cream rather than left bright white.
That cream tint is a Chuck 70 signature. The model, reissued in 2013, reproduces the All Star that basketball players wore around 1970: a canvas upper close to 12 ounces, a higher rubber sidewall, a one-piece bottom sole, ornamental stitching around the toe box and an OrthoLite insole added for modern comfort. The heel carries the license plate logo rather than a printed patch. This pair is dated September 2016 with an $85 list price.
