This Off-White Air Max 97 debuted on the runway at a Paris fashion show in June 2018, ahead of its general release on October 18, 2018 at a $190 retail price, finished entirely in black. Abloh reworks the upper in translucent textile in place of the OG's leather and mesh, letting the shoe's internal structure show through the material.
White detailing carries the Swoosh and the 'AIR' mark along the lateral side, while the medial quarter panel repeats lines of Abloh's signature text treatment. A woven Nike tongue tag, pushed off to one side, finishes the deconstructed look. The all-black finish marks a later, standalone entry in Abloh's run of Air Max 97 releases for Nike. Where the earlier white version leaned toward a ghostly, unfinished look, this colourway reads darker and more graphic against the same translucent base.
