When does a running shoe actually change? A numbered series updates every year, but most of those updates amount to a redrawn upper and a new colour range, with everything underneath carried across untouched. The eleventh GT-2000 was one of the real ones. ASICS moved the midsole to FF Blast, a foam with noticeably more rebound than the FlyteFoam builds the line had used since the middle of the previous decade, which alters how the shoe feels rather than how it looks. Across more than a decade of yearly releases, that is the exception. Midnight is the dark navy running through the brand's road range, and setting lime zest against it produces the highest-contrast version of this generation: a combination that reads from a distance, which is most of what a running colourway is asked to do.
