The GT-2000 has been in development at ASICS since 1993, three decades of continuous development. The brief has been stable for three decades: daily-mileage cushioning, medial support for a foot that rolls inward, and the durability to survive a full training block rather than a race season.
The ninth version belongs to the FlyteFoam era. ASICS introduced that compound in 2016 as a lighter alternative to conventional EVA, and the GT-2000 9 pairs it with GEL under the heel and a dual-density support element on the medial side. It predates the shift to FF Blast foams in the 11 and the geometry-led 3D Guidance System of the 12, so it represents the line in its more traditional form: firmer, more structured, more obviously a support shoe.
This pair keeps the palette muted: grey through the mesh, black across the midsole and outsole.
