The ninth GT-2000 is the last of the old guard. It still carried both of the stability elements the line had been built on for years (Dynamic DuoMax, a firmer wedge of foam on the inside of the midsole, and the plastic Trusstic system under the arch), a year before version ten swept both away for LiteTruss. What did change was feel: ASICS used a softer FlyteFoam than before and paired it with a heel GEL unit, trimming a few tenths of an ounce in the process, and borrowed the upper wholesale from that spring's Cumulus 22 because the material had tested well. Testers with neutral gaits reported not noticing the medial post working against them, which was rather the point of the generation. Piedmont Grey with lilac is a soft pairing for a shoe whose reputation was built on structure rather than softness.
